Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Hewett Academy – one of Norwich’s most iconic, well known and most successful schools. 

Set on the edge of Norwich, Hewett is well known for high academic standards combined with exceptional sporting facilities, a rich tradition of the visual arts and a strong sense of community. 

Our school is rightly proud of our knowledge rich curriculum which focuses on the powerful ideas and information that will carry students to wherever they want to go in life.  In our classrooms, the teachers are experts in their subjects and the student behaviours and attitudes are exemplary.  Together, with nationally recognised high attendance rates, they ensure that our students achieve amongst the best GCSE outcomes in Norwich and Norfolk. 

We are also about more than just academic excellence.  We have a programme of cultural capital designed to make sure all students have the chance to experience the best that society has to offer – so good, that Ofsted called it ‘outstanding’.  The enrichment programme at Hewett is very broad and the overwhelming majority of students engage in clubs or societies regularly; and many of them do so several times a week!  From computing to sports, arts and languages – Hewett has something for everyone! 

We are blessed with a fantastic campus that includes a fully working theatre, swimming pool, hockey pitches, and much, much more.  It means that Hewett sits at the heart of our community, with students able to take part in the school production on one night, represent the school in rugby the next and use the pool & gym the next day. 

I am incredibly proud to lead Hewett with its diverse and brilliant student body.  The staff here are first class and the school is really going places.
