Students at Hewett Academy received their GCSE results today, marking an important milestone in their educational journey – the last cohort to do their exams in the ‘old’ Hewett building. Staff and families came together to celebrate the hard work and resilience that underpin every result, recognising the unique stories behind each success.

This year, 50% of students at Hewett Academy achieved a "strong pass" of grade 5 or above in English and Maths. The secondary school is incredibly proud of the progress made by students across all ability levels.

Principal, Antony Little said:

“These results are confirmation of what we have always known about this remarkable group of young people.  They, as a year group, bought hard work, dedication, resilience – but most of all, happiness – to the school.  The amount of effort, from staff and students, that goes into a set of exam results this good cannot be underestimated.  Seeing the reaction of the students, their friends and family has capped off a fantastic year for Hewett.

“We will miss this year group more than they will know, and they will go on their next steps in life as a shining example of the best of Hewett.  We also look forward to a bright new future for the school in the brand new building, opening this year.”

Minho Broome came to the UK a few years ago and quickly settled into Hewett Academy.  Not only a remarkable sportsman, Minho leaves with 5 grade 9s in the Sciences, Maths, Geography & Statistics.  Minho is now going on to study at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form, one of the best sixth forms in the country.

Kamile Rudyte continues the Hewett success in the Arts, having achieved a stunning grade 9 in both Art & Photography.  Her work was highly acclaimed and has now earned a rare double top grade for her work.

Super star Mexhit Koci has shown that hard work - and a positive attitude to life – really can pay off!  Mexhit leaves school with a grade 9, 3 grade 8s and three grade 7s in subjects including French, Religious Studies and Photography.  Mexhit has been an inspirational role model and he represents the best of Hewett Academy.
